Overview
Description: In 2019 APS were commissioned by the Client to extend an existing garage and store room. Our brief was to work within the existing buildings and add on a gym, guest bedroom and office.
Challenge: This was to be a fast track project, that needed to fit within a tight residential site. The design of the new building was required to mirror the design aesthetic of the existing residence, and tie together the new building with the existing veranda, pool deck and entertainment area.
Solution: The client liked the idea of offsetting the first floor perimeter from the ground floor to create an offset perimter walkway and balcony. This brought the scale of the double storey building when viewed from the pool deck. The Gym opens up to the pool, whilst the first floor office and guest bedroom is accessed seperately from the rear to future proof the design for AirBnB short term rentals.
Michelle Wilkins from MAIA design ensured the interior desgin and soft furnishings were beautifully co-ordinated.
