Overview
Description: In 1996 APS were commissioned to design a new Science Center for Peterhouse Boys School.
Challenge: In consultation with the school it was agreed that the science building needed to sit as a stand alone department on a relatively small site.
Solution: A double storey building centred around a courtyard, was envisioned, to separate junior and senior science facilities within the same vicinity. Each room was tailored for use as a science laboratory, and corrosive resistant benches, basins and sanitary-ware was specified as required. Locally quarried stone was used to great effect to tie the new addition in with the older buildings made with the same material.
